Formed in the year 1948, the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association(PHHCBA) is one of the oldest and leading Bar Associations in the country having produced from its ranks a plethora of distinguished lawyers who have gone ahead to adorn the highest seat of the Judiciary in the States of Punjab and Haryana as well as various other High Courts throughout India as well as the Supreme Court of India.

Established under the able leadership of its founder President Late Shri Dev Raj Sawhney, the PHHCBA, a duly registered society under the Societies(Registration) Act, is an association of more than 5,000 lawyers practising in the High Court of Punjab and Haryana at Chandigarh. The Bar Association has played a pivotal role in contributing effectively to the development of the legal system in the country and has worked for the betterment of the society at large.

Now in its seventh decade since its inception, the PHHCBA continues its age old traditions and guided by its aims & objectives, strives forward to promote the administration of justice. The Bar Association has given the country several Judges of the Supreme Court of India, Additional Solicitor Generals and Advocate-Generals of the States of Punjab and Haryana.

The PHHCBA has its Office in the Administrative Block adjacent to the Main Library in the High Court premises and provides a host of services to its Members ranging from offering legal research facilities to operating Canteens and an extensive Cafeteria for the convenience of its Members and the general public amongst others.
